East manages to convince me with its Kitchen Party each time anew.
In the past, the building of the hotel East in Hamburg had been an old factory and was developed and rebuilt by the American architect Jordan Mozer to a modern lifestyle and business hotel, which belongs to the Design Hotels Community since 2003. For nearly 10 years East operates in hospitality and gastronomy successfully and it has become one of my favorite places in Hamburg.
Since last year, I visit (in accompany of my friends and family) the Kitchen Party regularly, which normally takes place only once per quarter in the restaurant of the hotel East. This event is not free of charge; therefore it offers more comfort, motion space and quality. But don’t worry Kitchen Party doesn’t mean you have to cook :).
The atmosphere during the event is very pleasant and the public is sophisticated. You will be warmly welcomed by the hospitality staff with a glass of chilled champagne or sparkling wine and led to your table. Worth to mention that this event is very popular, thus you should make the table reservation very early in advance.
The whole evening you can move freely in the restaurant and even in the kitchen and watch the chefs over their shoulders while they cook and at the same time taste small portions of their creations. Accordingly you can find several different live cooking stations with various delicacies. Furthermore the sushi bar with sushi and sashimi buffet is situated in the middle of the restaurant. Just help yourself ;).
I would love to name all the dishes we received, but as a not really enthusiastic cook – just enthusiastic gourmet, I can hardly remember the “exotic” names of them. However I try to describe them in a short simple way )).

Ah, I remember this one: a variation of Ceviche with shrimp.

Different variations of dessert. The left one contains indeed some fresh cucumber – not very sweet, but refreshing…something different. And the right one – mango sorbet.
The delicious food is mostly complemented with top wines of different wineries.
Every time I would like to taste something of this cheese plate for dessert, but I can’t manage it, because I’m already full up and a piece of cheese is not really low in calories. So I have decided next time to start with it ;).
The evening is always accompanied with live music.
While the Kitchen Party, I have found new friends, two young women from Cologne. One of them had her birthday that was compatible to the Kitchen Party‘s date. So she was surprised by her best girlfriend with a small decoration on the table and a little tartlet, which the waiters brought for dessert singing “Happy Birthday”. It was spectacular and jolly!
The Kitchen Party was over, but our evening was still not… 😉
